SMSF residential borrowing ban — what it means for you
The Federal Government has struck a deal with the Greens to ban new Limited Recourse Borrowing Arrangements (LRBAs) for residential property inside Self-Managed Super Funds. The ban applies going forward — existing arrangements are fully protected.
What this means for you:

✅ Existing LRBAs - Fully protected, no change

✅ Commercial property LRBAs - unaffected

❌ New residential LRBAs - Banned — 45 days after assent
